Krabi 11-13/1/2020
Our first trip alone without the kids. No kids fighting, no mommy's task, no mommy to the rescue, no mommy's fault, a take 5 break that I needed at the moment. I could not believe my ears when Mr Husband proposed this trip. Actually he had went there with his friends by motorbike and Aonang, Krabi captured his heart and felt it was a perfect spot for us to spend time together. I couldn't agree more because I too had fallen in love with this place.
We took the 9.20am flight which is not to early in the morning. Had coffee from the vending machine before boarding and in flight breakfast.
We reached Krabi around 10.30am ++. Purchased the internet simcard for 5 days at 150baht. Then we took a Grab to our hotel (Grab cost 595baht, if we took the van, it would only cost us 150baht/person). Mr M aimed to stay at the Bluesotel so there we were to spend our next 3 days. A beautiful nice hotel located on the main street of Aonang, where the 7-11 superdrug store is located near, coffee shops too, transport facilities, spas, small gift shops, Halal food restaurant, money changer and etc.
We made a quick stop to look at the local sellers in front of the mosque and suddenly it started to rain heavily. So we were stranded at the stall.
For our last morning, we had breakfast at Khao Yam Nai Baan to taste the local food. We had Nasi Kerabu with fried chicken. The tray of fresh vegetables is a complimentary from the restaurant.

Then we headed for lunch. To Mr M's dismay, the shop that he had aimed was relocated and closed .The stalls were totally different from before. So we decided to have lunch at this stall. Beware tourist, this particular person tried to trick us in not giving our change back.
Food rating: 7/10
So for night activity, we booked a mini van taxi and it cost 150baht/person to get to the Night Market. People selling clothes, bags, food, supper, souvenirs could be found here. What I like most about it's food is the grill seafoods where it was served with a dip which I guess is from lime juice and grounded chili.
A seller making flower soap. Beautiful and smells fresh. The smell can last a year. |
One of my wishlist is to treat myself to a relaxing period at the spa. I had footscrub (200baht) and foot massage (250baht)
Next we rented a motorbike for a day so we could get around easily at our own time (cost 250baht for 24 hours). Tips shared by the nice kid at the counter is to purchase petrol at petrol pump located outside of this area. According to her, the price varies depending on the owner of the petrol pump. Need to google more on this.
So we had lunch a bit faraway at Madina Restaurant. Great food served and the restaurant is really clean. Pineapple is served as a complimentary from the restaurant. Food rating: 9.9/10
Then we headed further away to look at the local village and nice resorts that maybe one day we can bring the kids along. Thank god we rented the motorbike as we can go anywhere we wanted.

Along the Aonang Beach, there are stalls selling seafood on sticks fried or grill and served Thai Chili sauce.
For our 2nd dinner, we did some internet surfing to find top rated restaurants and among the top listed are Hasna Palace, A-Hud Restaurant, Sareefah. We decided to stop at Hasna Palace. The food price is quite pricey. We ordered a plate of fried fish in fish sauce, stir fried chicken in curry powder, mango sticky rice, ice tea, 2 plate of rice and plain water and it cost us 750baht. 😰
We made a quick stop to look at the local sellers in front of the mosque and suddenly it started to rain heavily. So we were stranded at the stall.
After the rain stop, we went back to the hotel, changed our wet clothes into something dry and headed back on the streets again. As you can see, we often went in and out of our hotel since it is strategically located on the main street.
Next we did some light shopping and had drinks at 2 bars while listening to the live music. We preferred the second restaurant as the singer was singing lively music and it made us want to dance to the beat.💃
We were so tired and decided to head back to call it for the day. In bed, suddenly my partner came up with a crazy idea to ride around at 12.30am 😆. As a loyal partner, I tagged along and after riding around we decided to take away supper at Mat'am Subhan Restaurant. A simple restaurant but the food we ordered was marvelous. Food rating: 9.9/10

The best money changer in Aonang offering at good rates. As you can see, people lining up |
After checking out of the hotel and returning the motorbike, we headed upstream of the road near the mosque to have lunch and before lunch we had our last pampering session at the spa. Foot massage cost 250baht/person at this spa.
For lunch, we had ikan goreng siakap 3 rasa and ayam masak pedas, plus cold mocha at Firdaus Restaurant. Food rating: 9.8/10
So that's all from me for this memorable trip. It's sad to end this couple trip but we are also eager to great the kids back home.
